Putin approves new doctrine of Russia’s energy security

MOSCOW, May 14 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has approved a new doctrine of the country’s energy security, according to a relevant decree released on the official portal of legal information on Tuesday.

Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said in late November 2018 that the doctrine had been endorsed and had to be approved by a presidential decree.

Energy Minister Alexander Novak said earlier that Russia’s energy security encompassed stable fulfillment of domestic demands, creation of reserves and maintaining the leading position on global markets. The doctrine sets such goals as reducing the share of hydrocarbons in the energy balance, developing renewable resources and gas market, and raising the level of liquefied natural gas consumption.
